Loy Kratong Festival

Loy Kratong is the most important festival and celebrated annually in all parts of Thailand. It takes place on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar but the date will change every year, it normally falls in November. They celebrate this festival for paying respect to Kongka Mother, who is the goddess of the water . The Kratong -banana basket- made of the natural material, such as, banana leaves, banana trees, coconut leaves and flowers. And another material that we have to put in Kratong are three joss sticks and a candle. The people prayed and wished before floating it. The places that people usually go for floating are the river nearby their home, the temples or the popular landmarks in Bangkok, such as, Asiatique The Riverfront, Lumphini Park, and Memorial Bridge.
